Bracket 02/05/2024

Heavy at the top: Purdue, Uconn, and Houston are running away from the rest of the field. The gap between North Carolina and Wisconsin (my top 3 seed) is lower than the canyon that exists between the Tar Heels and the other 1 seeds.

Mighty Mid Majors: Dayton and Florida Atlantic continue to solidify their spots in the field, the Flyers at 16 and Owls at 22 aren’t the only Middies making their case for an at large. Excluding the Mountain West and avoiding the debate on if they’re even a mid-major, St. Marys and Indiana State are both making things interesting. The Trees chances at an at large would really take a hit with a loss in their last 8 games, but Josh Schertz has Isaiah Swope, Robbie Avila, and the rest of the Sycamores peaking at the right time.

Big Ten/ACC challenges: While the ACC/Big Ten challenge hasn’t happened since the Big Ten completely left the network, that hasn’t stopped these two conferences from having their own challenges. Virignia being the last team in has the ACC barely holding onto four bids. Clemson seems safe for now, but a skid in conference play could pop their bubble. The Big Ten is on slightly better ground, with 3 teams firmly in and 3 more on the right side of the bubble. It’s hard to see the Big Ten getting any more teams even in the conversation of an at large bid.
